As a parent and an active member of the community, I am passionate about ensuring that our schools provide the best possible education for all our children. I have over twenty years of experience helping families access community and social services they need for self-sufficiency along with helping families ensure their children are successful in their educational pursuits. Specifically, I have extensive experience with special populations including intellectually disabled children and adults, working to ensure their physical, mental, and education needs are met and helping them obtain economic stability.
I have been active as a mental health trainer, child advocate, and public education advocate working with a variety of public, business, and nonprofit organizations. I have also volunteered in my community, church, my children’s schools, and served as Chair of the District 1 BAC. I believe my personal background, work, and community experience, along with my passionate child and education advocacy work has prepared me for this opportunity to serve on the Wake County School Board. In each of these roles, I've demonstrated my ability to lead and inspire others, as well as my commitment to providing all students with a high-quality education.
I understand the value of being a good team member and I am committed to working collaboratively with other board members to develop policies and programs that benefit our students and our community. Together we are empowering education, elevating communities.
Have a positive and productive day!℠
